FRED DILLEMUTH
Fred Dillemuth has served 44 years as teacher, counselor, site and district level administrator.
He taught the “I CARE” program at Fremont Adult school for 37 years. His education includes undergraduate work at University of the Pacific and CSUH leading to master's degrees in counseling and administration at UC Berkeley and University of San Francisco. Fred starts things as evidenced by his founding Toughlove California, The Live Oak Teacher Recognition Program, Service Learning in Fremont, The "I CARE" program for reaching troubled teens, Californians for Drug-Free Youth, The Chemical People Program and Peer Resource at Mission San Jose. These programs have garnered recognition at the local, state, regional and national levels. Under his leadership the I.H.S. ASB won the U.S. State Department's outstanding student council recognition sending them to Russia for a month to help set up councils in their schools. Fred won the HB McDaniel innovative counseling award and a Service Learning Fellowship from Stanford University. He also won the Barbara Varenhorst Leadership Award and the PTA Honorary Service Award at the district and state level. He was selected as the third member of the Irvington High School Hall of Fame and the Service Learning facility is named in his honor. He has served several times as a mentor for teachers, counselors and administrators. In addition he served on numerous boards including the state counseling and guidance association, Californians for Drug-Free Youth, police and district hiring panels and the economic opportunity agency. He is also a fifteen time All-American in Track and Field and the 2018 World Champion in the Heptathlon and US champion in the Decathlon.
