WHAT DOES "ICARE" STAND FOR?

All five letters stand for ideas, thoughts and concepts relating to this evolving program. In the space below the definitions please add thoughts from your group which you feel would further explain what we stand for. This document is part of what we send to people who are interested in starting a program like this in their communities. Thank you!

"I" stands for me and the way I take ownership for my life. I can touch others people with acts of kindness and love. I can put the needs of others in front of my own by volunteering and caring. I have personal power to change.

"C" stands for connections I make with others. I can give and get support to change what I want to change about myself more easily if I am connected to others. "C" also stands for caring and compassion. "The love in my heart wasn't put there to stay, Love isn't love until I give it away".

"A" stands for awareness of people and things in my life. I realize that blaming others for what goes wrong in my life keeps me helpless.

"R" stands for responsibility and gratitude for what I have been given. I take responsibility for my life... In show biz terms: I'm the producer, director, casting director, star, popcorn seller, floor sweeper, and everything else connected to the drama that is my life.

"E" stands for effectiveness. I'm as self actualized as I want to be. "Nobody can make me feel bad about myself without my permission!"
